[Railway Economy | Feb 19, 2025] — Son Woon-rak, Vice President of Hansung Tech Co., Ltd., has been elected as the 14th President of the Korea Railway Signaling Technology Association (KRSTA).

The election took place on February 19 at the association’s headquarters in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi-do, where Son won 15 out of 20 votes from the delegates. Competing candidates Ahn Jong-baek (Director, Kyungin Technology) received 5 votes, while Kim Jung-gyeom (Director, Hwaseong Electric) withdrew before the ballot.

Son has long served the association as a board member, instructor for professional training programs, and editorial committee member, contributing to both technical and organizational development.

Starting February 28, he will officially assume the presidency for a three-year term.

A veteran in railway electrical systems, Son began his career at the Korean National Railroad (1975) and later held positions including Electrical Team Leader at Korail’s Southern Metropolitan Branch, Signal Control Team Leader at the Electrical Engineering Division, and Director of Electrical Operations at the Western Metropolitan Headquarters.

In his acceptance speech, Son stated:

“I will work closely with delegates and fellow candidates to lead an association that truly serves its members. Our goals will be the protection of member rights, welfare improvement, reform, and unity — to help the association advance to the next level.”

He added,

“We will build a transparent and trustworthy association by listening to every opinion from members nationwide.”

Meanwhile, Park Seok-hyun, Head of the Engineering Division at Shinwoo ENG, was elected as the new Auditor of the association.
